Those two dark blobs represent much larger blobs of bobbing plastic, garbage, trash, rubbish, call it what you will. Our detritus.
Effectively, this floating bin now stretches from Japan to Hawaii, and from Hawaii half way to the US.
The amount of ocean fouled by this trash is twice the size of the continental United States.
It really is time to recycle, people. This is not a green fantasy anymore. What happens when we run out of ocean to piss, shit and dump plastic into?

Good to see people focusing on the planet moreso than themselves. It heartens me that people are starting to realise that the daily waste and desposal of rubbish is not just something for other people in general and everyone is responsible too. But the governments need to provide bigger facilities for the removal of rubbish and people on the ground need to realise that they are responsible for their own CRAP.
Fuck it, it's all in the middle. Once it's not washing up on beaches who cares?
That won't be long, 20. It might be a good time for you to sell that Maui beachfront condo you bought with your book royalties!
